I’m looking to appendix carry my Canik MC9 Prime, but I’ve got a bit of a gut and it’s making things difficult
does anyone have tips or gear recommendations for pulling off AIWB when you’re carrying some extra weight around the middle? I want to make this work without it constantly digging in or printing like crazy. thanks!

For a Canik MC9 Prime, appendix carry can still work with a bit of a gut, but the holster setup matters more than the gun. A good belt and a holster with a claw plus a wedge usually makes the biggest difference for comfort and printing. Also try shifting it slightly off center, like 1 oclock, a lot of people find that spot way more livable day to day.

I would play with ride height and cant before buying a bunch of stuff. Too low usually digs, too high usually prints. A tiny adjustment can change everything. Also sizing up your pants one size can make AIWB way more tolerable.

I have a Prime and just started appending carrying a couple months ago. Took a bit to get comfortable with a gun pointed at things I really don't want to shoot-but came around pretty quickly. I got a holster from Blacklist Concealment, the owner (Daniel) is great, working on one now for a SFT Pro. I went with a single-hook model, it provides flexibility to change the angle of the gun. Standing/walking I have it pretty vertical. Sitting I tend to angle it such that the grip is parallel and just above my belt. I find it very comfortable, and more secure and concealed than 4:00 carry. You can check and ensure that it's covered without being obvious, and it's much more comfortable in the car. A couple things to look for-I'd stay away from those that cut the Kydex square and flush with the muzzle-the sharp edge will be felt. Look for ones with a rounded edge over the muzzle, blending into a flat a bit ahead of the muzzle. Not only more comfortable but keeps some lint out. Also, try a "wedge" or pillow, I found it made things a lot more comfortable. Also look into the "claw" that presses against your belt, helps keep the grip tucked in tighter.

I'm about 6' 245 or so, so on the heavy side, if that helps.
