Just found this forum, looking to learn. I picked up my first Canik, a Mete Prime, about 4 months ago. Just added a Rival S and a Mete SFT Pro this week. Really enjoying all of them.

Welcome TnMtnMan, good to have you here. That is a strong Canik lineup with the METE Prime, Canik Rival S, and Canik METE SFT Pro. Which one has been your favorite so far and what role are you using each Canik for, range, training, or competition?

I've always only focused on compact guns for concealed carry, hence the Prime. I finally decided it was time to get a range gun, to spend more time improving my skills, hence the Rival S. Decided to try the SFT Pro out, I might switch to it as my primary carry gun. I'm finding larger guns much easier to shoot well. (also got a really good deal on it at Buds-though I really wanted the Stingray!) As far as favorite, that's a tough call. The Rival fits me the worst-I got the wood grips which are kind of small-and I have gorilla hands. The replaceable backstraps make the other two fit me better. Easy fix, I'm planning on the LOX Veloce palmswells. Still like it a lot, but at the moment probably shoot the SFT a bit better, and the Prime not far behind. Love the Prime for CC.

WELCOME TnMtnMan! Your SFT is an excellent EDC choice. However, if you believe the FBI, they have always claimed that handgun conflicts -on the average - occur at 7yds. You could almost do that with a derringer. Because my eyes are 82yrs old, I have optics on 97% of my pistols (the other 3% aren't cut for optics), which I zero at 15yds and insure they are "on paper" at 25yds. For me, anything beyond that distance gets a bit iffy, and I would prefer to use one of my 14 long guns.
