How often are you really cleaning and lubing your TP9?

I’m still in the phase where I’m babying my TP9 a bit and I’m trying not to overthink it. Last weekend I did a 250ish round range day, went home, and stared at the gun like it was going to punish me if I didn’t clean it perfectly. I wiped it down, ran a couple patches, put a tiny bit of lube on the rails, and called it. It ran great the next trip, so now I’m wondering if my old habits were just me being anxious.

For the long time TP9SF and TP9SFX folks, what maintenance routine actually kept yours smooth over time. How often do you do a real field strip clean versus just a quick wipe and lube. Also where are you putting lube on these specifically so it runs nice without turning into a dirt magnet.

TP9s aren’t that delicate. I run a bore snake, wipe the feed ramp, add a drop on each rail and that’s it most of the time. Deep clean is like after 800–1,000 rounds or if I shot extra dirty ammo.

  I went through that whole phase of over-cleaning everything too. Eventually, I figured out it actually runs just fine with some basic care. I keep it lightly lube nod and save the deeper cleans for when they are actually needed.

Half the battle is resisting the urge to clean it like you’re preparing for a military inspection afterward.

I clean the barrel inside and out, the rails and slide. Lightly lube it after every range trip.
