what's your Canik TP9/METE break-in advice?

Let's start a "week one to week three" thread for people who own Canik TP9 and METE guns. What is one decision you would stick with because it worked and one decision you would change because it was a waste of time or caused problems?

Some examples are running 115 vs. 124, using hotter ammo too soon, cleaning too much vs. not cleaning enough, using too little lube vs. too much, messing with springs too soon, or chasing problems that were really just grip or mags that needed a little use. I'm especially interested in the little things that made a big difference.

Tell us your Canik model, the number of rounds it can hold, and the most important thing you learned. The more different things we talk about in one thread, the more helpful it is for new owners.

For the METE MC9 after clean and lube I was told to use 124gr 9mm NATO rounds for the first 300 to break it in.

I only shoot 124gr in all my 9's. I put 210 rounds through my MC9 and had 15-20 failure to fire issues with the striker. Thoroughly cleaned the striker chamber after getting it home, but have not had it back to the range yet to see if that did any good. I'm hoping to get this thing running like a champ because I love the way it shoots and feels.

I didn't read about the break in period 'til after my first range session. The one thing at this point, I would re-do, is take more ammo on the first trip.

I own at least a dozen hand guns in 9mm. With every single one, I have always cleaned it thoroughly to get rid of the grease that it comes in. I always break-in the gun with 124gr - 135gr ammo (minimum 200 rounds through it). A deep clean, and then test different ammo (115gr - 165gr) to see what the pistol likes. Each gun is different and you will be surprised of what grain bullet it likes. I.E.: My MC9 Prime likes the 135gr and 147gr bullet really well (shoots flat and accurate). After 500 rounds through the gun, I then determine if it needs a tweek or not (maybe a trigger or better springs). Today i picked up a new gun (Canik METE SFT PRO Razorback). I will use it mostly for range work and do my workup for my reloads. But will follow the procedure that i have done for every gun i've purchased. Dry frying it the trigger is a little stiff and stiff racking it. Hopefully that will work itself out (will see). There has been only four that i've had to do nothing to it - Canik Combat Elite, Canik Prime, Walter PDP "F" Pro and the PDP Full size (4.5" Barrel). All four shot great with no Mal functions and are shooters with over 1k rounds thru them.
Note: I also own pistols in the following calibers: .45ACP, 5.7x28, .45 Colt, 357 Mangum and 30 Super.
