300 to 500 rounds in: what changed with your Canik TP9 or METE?

Canik TP9 and METE owners, early February 2026 thread for the Canik Forum. After your first 300 to 500 rounds, what changed the most, and what stayed annoying? I’m trying to collect real break in experiences that are easy for new owners to compare.

Did reliability improve, did the recoil feel change, did mags loosen up, did your groups tighten, or did certain ammo start running better. And what stuck around, like picky ammo, stovepipes, failure to return to battery, slide lock issues, or just something about the feel that took longer to get used to.

If you can, drop your setup details, like what model, what grain weight you ran most, and if you cleaned or lubed differently during that first stretch.

For my Canik TP9 Elite Combat, nothing magic happened, it just got smoother. The only reliability issue I had early was with weak range ammo, and that went away when I stuck to decent 115 and 124 brass. I cleaned once around 300 and kept it lightly lubed. Annoying thing that stayed is the mags were still tight to seat when fully loaded, especially on a closed slide.

My first 300ish on a Canik METE made me stop overthinking every little hiccup. The trigger feel smoothed out a bit and my groups tightened mostly because I got used to it. I was on 115gr most of the time.

My dad has a TP9 Elite Combat, and it was a bit of a bear for the first few trips. the factory shipping grease was slowing it down.

Once we gave it a deep clean and hit 400 rounds of 124gr, the recoil impulse smoothed out beautifully. It feels way less snappy now than it did on day one. If you’re a new owner, just keep shooting, it really does find its groove after that second or third box

I took the easy way out for my Sfx, I ordered a lesser weight recoil spring directly from CANIK USA, daiv727. If you're shooting target ammo, keep in mind that it is not as powerful as the standard ammo, and may give you the impression that the recoil spring is too strong.

I run magazine extenders on both my CANIKs, and the easiest way I have found is with the slide open for the first round, release the slide, drop the mag and add one more round for max capacity.
