I’m still dialing in my Canik TP9SF and I’m realizing a lot of “upgrades” are just noise. I’m mainly after better control and a more consistent grip without making it bulky or uncomfortable for longer range sessions.

A specific moment was last range trip when my hands got a little sweaty and I could feel my grip shifting between strings even though the gun was running great. What grip additions actually helped you, like different backstrap sizes, a little grip tape, or something like a sleeve, and what did you try that felt gimmicky or made it worse?

For the Canik TP9SF, the biggest real change is usually just the backstrap that lets you get a consistent trigger reach. After that, a small amount of grip tape on the support hand contact points helps a lot when your hands get sweaty. Full sleeves can feel nice but they can also add bulk and shift over time, so I lean tape over sleeves.

I tried a rubber sleeve on a different pistol and it made the grip feel thicker fast. It helped a bit with traction, but it shifted over time and annoyed me. On the TP9SF I’d start with backstrap first, then only add something if you still feel movement after you’re gripping consistently.
